The Consumer Affairs Division is part of the Regulatory and Environmental Services Department of the City of Jacksonville. We have been established to be the protector and advocate for the consumers of Jacksonville. The Division investigates complaints regarding unfair, deceptive or illegal business practices, enforces relevant city ordinances and state laws and educates consumers on their rights and responsibilities.

What We Do

The Consumer Affairs Division was created in 1969 to address numerous citizen complaints concerning consumer disputes and fraud in the Jacksonville marketplace. As a service to our citizens, the Consumer Affairs Division maintains an extensive databank on the complaints filed with our office.

Before you enter into any business arrangement, please contact our office and ask about the complaint history of that business. We will be glad to inform you of the number of complaints against a business and whether those complaints have been satisfied. If you would like more details on a particular business, our files are public record, and available for viewing during normal business hours.

If you would like to come by our office, we are located in the new City Hall at St. James Place, 117 W. Duval St, Suite M-100. That's the Mezzanine floor. St. James Place is located directly across from Hemming Plaza, adjacent to the Hemming Plaza Skyway station.
